It is indeed a great enchantment for me to address some vital and kernel issues and points with regard to the vision, mission, values and goals of our office- Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office (EIPO) in a nutshell. This is in order to shed lights on our mapped out plan which we all are duty bound to carry to its end using all possible modus operandi . It is a glaring and undeniable fact that the EIPO needs to strive to its utmost capacity to essentially strengthen the national IPR system as a sources of wealth creation and value-addition in its own right, to the benefit of the society and individuals, taking all administrative, technical and legal frameworks into account. Public Wing and Stakeholders Conference Held

Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office held conference with public wing and stakeholder on the performance of the first growth and transformation plan, (GTP I) the second growth and transformation plan (GTP II) and the 2015/16 fiscal year plan on October 1, 2015 at the Office conference hall.

The Office Director General Teshale Yona in his remark stated meetings with public wings and stakeholders contribute a lot on the improvement of the Office service rendering. The discussion aimed at rectifying the gaps and benchmarking the successes registered in GTPI, the office works hard to excel its service.

Tedla Mamo, director for Copyright and Community Knowledge Directorate in his part said in the first GTP the office was able to prepare a brand management plat form of the specialty coffee and send to Ministry of Trade, renew sidamo and Harrar coffee registered in the United States Patent Office, reduce the copyright infringement by commencing a national operation based on the Study conducted in 2012/13 and launches a study property to register sesame on a peculiar IP registration method.

The Office set to collect 14 million patent information and distribute 9 million in the second GTP, he added. Besides, he exclaimed that the Office will work harder to minimize counterfeiting in collaboration with its

public wing and stakeholders.

Regarding to 2008 fiscal year plan Teshome Hailu said the office set to produce several best performers and create good governance by fighting rent seeking attitude.

The participants discussed the topics lively and assured to collaborate with the office.
