Copyright Enforcement

The Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office (EIPO) has conducted the operation twice to minimize the level of copyright infringement throughout the country. In the operation various governmental and civil associations such as, EIPO, Ministry of Justice, Federal Police Commission, Regional Police Commissions, Addis Ababa Police Commission, Ethiopian Copyright and Related Rights Collective Management Society (former) and Ethiopian Audiovisual Producers Association had participated.

The operation carried out in 8 (eight) different cities located on various regions on the first operation that is on 1st of March, 2014, are evidenced by a list of exhibits indicated on the following table.

After the two operations the office attempted to survey the infringement level in the above mentioned cities. Based on the survey, the infringement level has decrease by 6.1%.
